Summer is one of the most popular times for outdoor weddings because the grass is green, schedules are free, and it is overall a great time to get married! Summertime is gorgeous and hot! I live in the South, so it is super humid here!
Summer weddings bring heat and unique challenges, so how should you navigate a summer wedding while enjoying all of the perks and avoiding problems? Here is a list of my favorite summer wedding hacks (really these can be used any wedding season of the year) and make sure you use them for your summer wedding!
Drink All the Water!
You and the bridal party will need lots of it! I live in a humid area (hello South!) Yes, I want you to enjoy the mimosas, and yes, I want you to enjoy the beer with the guys, but I also want you to look nice in all of your portraits and not become dehydrated! I don’t want to take a picture of you being carried off in an ambulance (although it may be pretty epic for some). Let’s not risk passing out, feeling sick, or a possible heatstroke. Make sure that you have enough water on deck if you are having a summer wedding, and make sure there is plenty to share!
Extra Tissues
They will be needed for more than tears! Hot weather brings sweat. We know that sweat is not cute, but it is definitely a possibility on your wedding day! Let’s make sure that you have enough tears to dab the sweat away during portraits and enough for the bridal party.
Hair & Makeup Touch-Up Plan
Summertime is well known for sweat, and it will happen during the summer. I am sure that you have the best hair and makeup team for your special day, but you may want a few touch-ups done during the wedding day. Make sure to plan for these touch-ups to ensure that you feel you best during portraits and when it is time to walk down the aisle!
Undershirts, Please!
The groom and groomsmen will sweat more than the bride and bridesmaids. They are wearing more layers, so make sure they are wearing extra undershirts to help absorb the sweat underneath their suits and shirts. It’s a good idea to have extra undershirts so they can change into them–this will help them feel cooler and fresher during the day!
Inclement Weather Plan
Inclement weather plans are necessary for outdoor summer weddings. We don’t want your gorgeous day to turn into a rainy, muddy nightmare! If it does not rain, at least you will have peace knowing that you have a plan in case it rained, and you did not have to use it! Options for cover for your wedding include clear or white tents. Additionally, inquire with your venue if they have an indoor option. Always ask your wedding planner what options they would recommend, they have great ideas!
