Are you dreaming of breathtaking, epic wedding images that embody the essence of fine art, destined to become timeless masterpieces adorning the walls of your home? As a fine art wedding photographer, I take immense pride in capturing those intimate moments that tell the beautiful story of your love, creating exquisite wall art images that will be cherished for generations to come.
Check out these five tips for getting epic wedding images from one of the best days of your life.
Invest in a Great Photographer
Investing in an experienced and skilled photographer is paramount to capturing the true essence of your special day. Your wedding images are not just snapshots; they are profound memories that deserve the utmost attention and artistic dedication. Take the time to select a photographer whose style aligns with your vision, someone who can capture the romance and artistry that make your love unique.
My approach to wedding photography is an art form that centers on capturing genuine emotions and heartfelt moments throughout your wedding day. From the tender glances shared between you and your beloved to the exuberant celebrations, I aim to create a collection of images that reflect the opulence and sophistication of your wedding.
By entrusting me with the task of photographing your entire wedding day, I ensure that no precious moment goes unnoticed. From the intimate exchange of vows to the grandeur of the reception, we artfully capture every significant detail. Take time to interview potential photographers and find one who you feel comfortable with and whose images are just the type of images you want. And be sure to book your photographer for the whole day, so every moment of your ceremony and reception is covered.
Focus on the Love of Your Life
A lot of people feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, but of course, they still want wedding images they’ll love! The best thing you can do is focus on your soon-to-be spouse and remember what the day is all about. If you spend too much time thinking about posing and the positioning of your body, you’ll feel and look awkward. Just focus on your partner, and your body language—and smiles—will be perfectly natural.
One of my favorite things to do with my couples to make them feel comfortable is to remind them to relax and have fun. This is the key in getting wedding day imagery that feels and looks like you. It is important to give you the best cues to create the best poses for you that also gives you those candid moments, too.
Ensure you Have Plenty of Time for Photos
Epic wedding images don’t happen in a few minutes. Make sure you have a solid chunk of time in your wedding day schedule for couple portraits, especially if you want to wander away from the venue for some gorgeous shots against the natural scenery.
Plus, you’ll need a little time to loosen up and start having fun in front of the camera, and stepping away from all your guests can give you a chance to relax and enjoy the moment.
Take Lighting Into Consideration
We understand that posing for photographs can be daunting, but fear not! My focus is on making you feel at ease, encouraging you to immerse yourselves in the love you share. Your authentic emotions will naturally shine through, resulting in captivating and artistic images.
To achieve those truly extraordinary and artistic wedding shots, ample time for couple portraits is indispensable. This dedicated time allows us to explore breathtaking natural settings, capturing images that exude romance and timelessness.
Meticulously considering lighting conditions plays a crucial role in achieving magical and artistic imagery. Planning your ceremony during the golden hour, when the light is at its most enchanting, will lend an ethereal glow to your photos, enhancing the artistic allure of your wedding album.
When you’re planning your ceremony time, think about what the light will be like. For example, afternoon light can often be too bright and drain everything of color, while evening light has that golden glow that everyone—including photographers—loves. But there’s a limited window to taking advantage of “golden hour” before the sun sets.
Be sure to talk to your photographer about when the light will be best for photos and try to schedule your portraits around that time if you can. And if your schedule for the day doesn’t leave room for evening photos, consider booking a post-wedding shoot to get additional images in the light you want.
