Hi there! Welcome to my blog about my the lovely people I get to capture, my life, and travels! Stay a while and do say hello if you please!
I’ve watched Shameika and Aaron pray, cry, travel back and forth to Little Rock and eventually Boston, MA while their baby girl, Avery was in the hospital. It was such a tough time — lots of unknowns, diagnoses, etc until Avery gained her angel wings on May 10, 2016.
I’ll never forget when Shameika told me she was pregnant again – I was super excited for her and scared. Knowing everything that they had been through with Avery, it was tough to not be scared for her and Aaron again. Shameika was considered high risk early on in her pregnancy and traveled to the high risk OB weekly for labs. I texted Shameika out the blue one day and she told me that she had the baby and how scared she was. In my mind, I couldn’t believe it, the baby could only be anywhere between 20-30 weeks, so what does this mean?
Shameika sent me pictures of baby Carter Alexander and I couldn’t have been more excited for them. I immediately begin praying for them every day and at every moment that I thought about them during the day. I couldn’t imagine the feelings that overcame Shameika and her husband Aaron as Avery was born around the same time that Carter was born and what if we have to go through the same thing again?
God works in mysterious ways.. Carter Alexander Kelly was born on May 13, 2017 weighing 1lb, 8 oz – a micro preemie! Carter was in the NICU for 127 days! There are many beautiful things about this story – Carter came home on his sister Avery’s birthday. Carter is surpassing milestones that his doctors didn’t think he would reach just yet (he can crawl very fast, and can pull up on most sturdy things and stand up on his own). Most of all, Shameika and Aaron’s faith never wavered, they trusted God through the entire process.
Shameika is one of the strongest women I know, and you’re blessed and have been obedient to what God has told you to do. I’m so proud to call you my friend, and Carter my boyfriend, lol!
Happy Mother’s Day to you, and happy birthday to Carter Alexander!
